Dysport

What Is Dysport?
Dysport treats moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows by reducing specific muscle activity. Wrinkles are caused by repeated movements and muscle contractions, which means they can even develop in younger adults. One injection into each of five points between and above the eyebrows temporarily prevents the muscle contractions that cause frown lines, leaving the rest of your face to move naturally. To learn more about Dysport and other neuromodulators, contact Beer Dermatology at (561) 600-4848 (West Palm Beach) or (561) 430-2767 (Jupiter). What is Dysport?
Dysport is a type A Botulinum toxin or highly purified protein that injected into muscles and used to relax them.
As with other types A toxins which are Botox, this product is to be used by skilled injectors who knows the anatomy of the face.
Where can Dysport be used?
In my practice, I combine it with fillers frequently to try and fix lines that are both dynamic and static.
Dynamic lines are one that caused by muscles while static lines are lines that sitting there even when you are resting or sleeping. So it is very important to know what goes where have they help each other.
For instance, corners of the mouth frequently can be pulled down by one of the muscles of the face. Sometimes, injecting a little bit of Botulinum toxin can help to relax the muscles and move the corner of the mouth upwards.
In addition to that fillers are used there to buttress the corner.
Is Dysport better than Botox?
Dysport is a little bit newer than Botox but it's been around for at least several years.
We've been using Dysport for several years and we were part of the early clinical trials, so we have a lot of experience with it.
Who is a good candidate for Dysport?
Dysport is used for people that want to treat their frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines, it can be used to treat a variety of other lines as well.
How long does Dysport last for?
Typically Dyposrt lasts for about 3- 3 1/2 months, sometimes in somebody that has been using it for a while, it will last for 4-6 months.
What are the benefits of Dysport?
It can be a little bit different than Botox, the infusion and how it’s taken up by the skin, so it is just a different type of up-take.
If you are thinking about relaxing your muscles speak to your dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Come in and see me, we would be happy to take care of you.
